Conclusions to Fashion Week

Today is the last day of NYFW. However YouTube's online coverage ended yesterday. I honestly wished they covered more designers. Today my all time favorite designer walked the runway. The Blonds, you may have seen their intricate corsets on celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj,  Rihanna, Katy Perry, Miley, Jennifer Hudson, and Fergi. If you have no idea what I am talking about well today's your lucky day. I will be showing you a bunch of photos shortly. From the photographs of their recent line, I must say its not one of my favorites. It featured a futuristic look/ motorcycle badass look. I only liked one outfit, featured runway walk by the designer himself, wearing a leather corset, and shorts with the hottest rhinestone sparkly boots ever!

Past looks from The Blonds on Agnes, Jennifer, and Katy. Now do you see why they are my favorite designers?

In talks with fashion week, I have noticed some people always say why would you wear that?
I find myself saying that so many times as well, unless your Lady Gaga of course then this is a heaven for you. Yes I will admit some of these works are unpractical for everyday usage. BUT BUT BUT BUT....
Think about it, for those of you who like to read/ glance at fashion magazines have you noticed the sections with the outrageous couture fashions? "Yes" I can't hear you.... "Yes." For those reasons that is why they create such crazy contraptions. How would you like if you went to runway shows, flipped through magazines and every model wore a tshirt, jeans, and styled their hair the same, would you want to subscribe to the publications or even bother to watch a runway show? "No."

I went to Catholic school all my life, we all wore the same thing. Things got boring, very boring. People on the outside thought uniforms was a cool polished look, I will agree, however it was hard to look different. Especially if the other girls liked the bag you had. I was never big on trends growing up for many reasons. (I will get into that in another blog.) I remember that one day I was shopping and my mom picked up this bag, she asked me if I liked it, I said no because every other girl in my class had one, and I wasn't quite interested. I didn't want to look like the exact copy of everyone else. I hope that these examples shed some light for you on why designers make shocking looking creations. They have to differentiate themselves.

In concluding fashion week I want to summarize the trends I have seen for fall. Now it's up to you whether you want to indulge in these wonderful/wacky trends. There has been definitely a wide range of trends on the runways this year. It's completely up to use if you want to use fashion week trends to blend in with the crowd or stand out from the crowd. You can buy the minimal dumb down everyday versions of these trends, or you can go out spend the extra money to get the outrageous/simplistic runway versions. As you saw with the images I provided you, some of these trends were screaming look at me pieces, and some were ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh look at me I am the next Lady Gaga. I think its perfectly fine to spurge a certain designer item once in a while, as long as you absolutely love it, and its not an impulse purchase. Ok... I am ranting on and on and on.... Sorry I don't get out much.
Anywho... here are the trends.

**Random moment, since when did a 6 year old become more fashionable than me? My cousin came home from the bus sporting fake glasses.

FUR FURRRRRRR AND MORE FURRY DEAD ANIMALS. jk.
Big trend, I saw in the past week runways was fur. Whether it was full fur coats that made you look like an abominable snowman, fur boots, or the simplicity of fur trims, this textile will always be around for years to come. I do not recommend buying a full fur coat, because they are very expensive, as well as they don't flatter very many body types. If your looking into buying something out of the furry family, I would recommend choosing a fur vest or something with fur trims.

Metallics, shiny, sparkles, sequins. MY FAVORITE CATEGORY! Now lets through glitter on everything and life would be so much better.
HUGE trend probably bigger than the fur trend, was metallics and anything shiny. Thank God I didn't attend fashion week, because seriously I would have probably have taken a loan, and sold my first born child to buy everything metallic and shiny. I saw a lot of gold, sliver, blue, green and even red metallics. Sequins/ rhinestones where on everything from tops, dresses, sides of leggings, down to detailing in shoes. So happy about this one!

Plaids, prints, and stripes were in as well.
I saw different styles of plaids such as, lumberjack plaids and scotch tape plaids. Prints ran anywhere from floral to birds. Thick stripes were sported in many collections.

Leather
I am dying to find a leather jacket that looks flattering on me. Maybe I should borrow one of these models jackets... Leather everything is going to be a big one again... Leather jackets, leather pants, leather shorts, leather boots, leather bags, leather belts and leather pencil skirts. Definitely a huge trend.

Belts
Thick belts seem to be a big accessory. Obi style belts, corset contraption belts, as well as metal metallic belts.

20's and 70's era.
In dresses I have seen a lot of flapper styled dresses. The 70's retro era was all over the place. From boho chic to disco sensation.

Skirts- High waisted, pencil, pleated, and maxi
I will always love high waisted flowy skirts. These better not go out of style anytime soon. Its a classic school girl/Paris feel. I just can't get enough of them. Pencil skirts will always be around, they are flattering on everyone. Pleated and maxi skirts are making an appearance everywhere. I am not sure how I feel about them. Depending on how the skirt is pleated, and what the color is you can end up looking like a grandma in a church choir.

High necks
I have seen a ton of high neck in many designers collections. Either on shirts, dresses, or sweaters. I think if you wear this look properly, its to die for. Its classy and elegant. We have seen way to much skin lately, I think we need to show off some more classy and chic looks.

Low cuts
I have seen a lot of low back looks in many evening dresses. I totally love this trend when worn properly. Other ways that this trend was worn was low, strappy, how did she get in that dress looks. I totally dig caged, odd cut backs. You will be seeing a lot of that in clothing now.

Color pallet
I have been loving this seasons color pallet, the fashion gods finally heard my life long prayers on including nice shades of green, instead of the puke lime green that everyone calls green. Anyway other colors included black, white, navy, browns, caramels, and tans. Color blocking was also present, however colors used were more on the dull side. Tracy Reese did not use dull colors for color blocking, she used bright sunny colors.

Chiffon
Seen this sheer material everywhere. Enough said.

Lace
There were still hints of lace in some collections. I think we will be seeing more of a high neck lace. I am hoping in our everyday looks there will be different lace patters, because I have been seeing the same floral lace pattern on everything. Don't like that fact, even though I do like the pattern.

Shoes
High heels... not the best escape weapon for first disaster dates. They are pretty good if you want an excuse not to walk for a week, or if your in a robbery situation you can throw one at someone and it will do some damage. Boots are in, as well as two tone shoes perfect for color blocking.

Hair
Sleek, straight and ponytails made the cut. I saw a lot of buns as well.

Makeup
Natural lips, to bold red lips. I also did see a lot of orange lips. Eyes in come collections were bold.
